Upright tree with sloping branches, height 15 to 20m. Initially narrow upright, later broadening with a fairly regular crown. Has already on young age a creamy white bark that peels off in broad strips, with underneath a dark brown bark. Leaf broad-oval, shiny dark green with coarser teeth than Betula utilis. Very striking tree that flowers abundantly. Very beautiful winter habitat. Beautiful park and avenue tree on open green verges.
