The Japanese walnut tree is the first tree in Japan after the atomic bombing of Hiroshima. This tree found the strength to grow and is therefore a symbol of life. Because of its symbolic value, the tree was placed at the Maternity Hospital of the Two Cities Hospital in Tilburg. The Japanese walnut tree is originally from China, planted in Japan. Tree of 20-25 m high, variable crown shape. Usually cone-shaped. Fan-shaped leaves 5-8 cm, as a rule double lobed due to  the incised top. The fruit is a plum-shaped, nut-like seed of 2-3 cm, hanging from a stem. Beautiful park tree, but certainly also a street and avenue tree for wider profiles. Reasonably resistant against urban air pollution. Very wind resistant due to deep root system. Not too wet soils. Yellow autumn colour.
