The Holly is well distributed throughout the British Isles and favourable evergreen species for planting projects to give winter colour. It is regarded as one of our favourite smaller trees with glossy dark geen leaves and Holly berries that ripen around September. Bark of holly is smooth and pale grey in colour, wood is exceedingly fine grain and very hard and white. Flowers of holly are white and roughly 5-10mm across, with four petals.
