"Slender Silhouette" is one of the new varieties of Liquidambar styraciflua. This sweet gum tree, is one of the narrowest columnar trees so far. This variety has already received a gold medal in America 2010 from the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society. The Liquidambar styraciflua "Slender Silhouette" has year-round ornamental value, in the spring and summer deep green, glossy star-shaped leaves, which change color in autumn to yellow-red. Beautiful autumn colouring occurs on non-calcareous and acidic soils. At a later age, the tree develops beautiful corky fissures, winter has its ornamental value again. The large star-shaped leaf blade gives it slender amber tree body. This species grows best in well-drained soil, preferably in full sun. The tree produces fewer seeds, which causes little inconvenience in public spaces. In the UK, the tree can grow 30-60 cm per year and reach a final height of 18-20 meters, the full width is a maximum of 2 meters. The Liquidambar styraciflua "Slender Silhouette" comes from low, moist forests and coastal plains of the eastern half of North America, south of New England.
